Reclaimed Antique Wood Beam Skin Description:
Original surface rustic antique beam skins are made from the outside of a beam. We cut a slab directly from a large Hand Hewn or Rough Sawn reclaimed wood beam in order to make decorative wood skins to enable our customer to create their own wraps and box beams. Not only is this material perfect for rustic beam wraps it is extremely useful in covering many other areas. Antique rough sawn wood beam skins hold teeth marks left behind from the saw blade as the wood was first milled. Our customers love the warmth and aesthetics produced by antique rough sawn beams wherever they are in a space. Previous to the invention and mass production of steam power, most logs were shaped into rustic beams using only an axe and some simple tools. With the introduction of the railroad and steam power in the mid 1800’s, local, regional and national sawmills sprung up all over the country, producing square cut lumber and beams that saved immense amounts of time and money. Most antique rough sawn rustic beams were cut with a large circular blade that left an interestingly textured surface that, upon aging, creates a great patina surface that looks smooth from afar, yet has plenty of character.

Always allow plenty of time after recieving any wood product for the material to properly and completly acclimate to its new envirenment. This is typically accomplished in a week or two by placing the material as close to its final installation area as possible. HVAC systems should have been running prior to material arrival and set at normal living conditions for a proper acclimation of the wood products.CalculateArea size: square feetPlease use numbers only
